2019 McCree "Gambler"
This year for Halloween, and our 1st Blizzcon appearance, we took on the challenge of creating the very classy Overwatch McCree Gambler Skin. Much of the outfit was easy to procure from local department stores, Halloween outlets, and Amazon but McCree's Robotic Arm was a creative challenge that turned out great.
Many of the online Cosplay bloggers have posted their versions of McCree's gambler arm, primarily made from craft foam and other flexible components. After several failed attempts with these materials we decided to just go crazy and model the arm and 3D print the main arm section and most of the hand components.
The arm section is an assembly of 10 individually printed parts solvent bonded together with Acetone. Gray filler and primer spray was used to fill the seams and it provided a good base for the metallic colors. Blue EL Wire was integrated into the circular elbow sections to add some life into the piece. Due to our limited time we simplified the glove section. It was comprised of 13 individual fingerpieces and a single hand shield piece that slipped over a gray rubber glove. With a little more time we would have liked to add some additional hand details, extend the Blue EL Wire to the fingers, and make the card shooter functional.Oh well, it still came out really cool and looked great in Anaheim.
Guess we have to start earlier next year!
