MONKEY  ROBOT  FACTORY

Original Concept Sketch

Not knowing exactly where to start we decided to experiment with a paper structure to get dimensions and shape. We had no idea that the manila folders and masking tape would work as well as it did. As you can see from the photos the entire head and body structure was made from folders, tape, and a bit of hot met glue.

The shimmery lizard like fabric was an awesome find. It was attached with hot melt glue and some batting was used to produce some of the facial features. A Styrofoam ball was cut in half to fit into the swamp monster's forehead. A battery powered LED was pressed into the backside of the Styrofoam ball allowing it to be a glowing 3rd eyeball. Plastic crafting mesh was used to create the eyes and mouth inserts. Once all the pieces were in place we used acrylic paint to add the final details.

The final costume was completed just in time for Halloween night. The light up eyeball ended up being a helpful tracking feature while out trick or treating. Can't wait to see next years concept art!

2014 Swamp Monster

After last years success as a Mad Scientist, Justin selected his next favorite LEGO character ... the Swamp Monster.

He gave this one a lot of thought and sketched out his concept. We took the concept and created a more detailed sketech together to make sure none of the critical features were missed. A clay model was also made, but for some strange reason it was never photographed.
